The Power of Consistency

The Power of Consistency

By: Gabrielle DiCervo

This week I want to give you some tips on staying consistent in the Martial Arts.

#1: Consistency creates accountability.

We are all accountable for our growth. Let’s say we come short of reaching our goals, consistency plays a big factor on that.  We are accountable on how far we grow in the martial arts. If we get promoted to a new rank, or not move up in our training, consistency plays a huge role in it! Every martial artist out there should be consistent. This is where accountability towards one’s growth and goals happen.

So, what is your accountability? Are you accountable for your own results? In lie? In Martial Arts?

#2: Consistency builds Reputation

When you are building your training in the martial arts, you are to be consistent. Imagine being the only person who only comes to the school at random times in a month verses the other student who consistently trains. When you train in the martial arts you interact with other students, you build a reputation with the people that you train with.

#3: Consistency is the road towards the best there is

Practice makes perfect. Well perfect practice makes perfect. Practice connects with consistency. You have to practice your training like you practice walking and breathing. Consistently and almost automatically. Make it a habit. All legendary and great martial artist have made the decision at one point to be consistent in the art.

Reminder, remove all distractions. Distractions are of course apart of life.

Managing distractions is not easy, but it can be done.  The way to do this is to simply remove all the other distractions that aren’t making you become better in the art.

Secondly, create an environment where consistency can be conductive. Of course, being at Sovereign Martial Arts can help you gain consistency.

Lastly, have a plan for achieving consistency. This can be as little as taking the time to commit to training, to attending our events, going to our tri-annual tournaments.

Get connected with SMA. You will see a difference with your consistency level.
